Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Virtualization Administrator to manage and optimize enterprise virtualization environments. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability across production and test/development environments.

This role requires deep technical expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to support infrastructure upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain VMware vSphere and Hyper-V clusters in production and test/development environments

  • Build, configure, test, and maintain new virtual machines

  • Monitor virtualization environments and proactively detect and resolve issues

  • Fine-tune VM configurations to optimize performance and resource utilization

  • Participate in infrastructure capacity planning initiatives

  • Develop and maintain provisioning tools, standards, and procedures

  • Document processes, configurations, and operational procedures

  • Propose and implement VM provisioning and optimization solutions

  • Evaluate and apply ESXi host upgrades, version updates, and security patches

  • Develop and execute test plans for installations, upgrades, and repairs, including rollback plans

  • Provide occasional after-hours support as required

  • Collaborate effectively with system owners and cross-functional teams


Required Technical Skills

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience administering enterprise VMware and Hyper-V environments

  • Strong expertise in:

    • VMware vSphere

    • ESXi

    • vCenter

    • DRS

    • HA

    • vMotion

    • Storage migration

  • Experience with P2V and V2V migrations and virtualization lifecycle management

  • Knowledge of SAN/NAS storage systems, virtual networking, and performance tuning

  • Experience with VMware Horizon or VDI environments

  • Familiarity with backup, disaster recovery, and replication technologies

  • Basic to intermediate Unix/Linux system administration experience

  • Experience with automation and scripting (PowerShell, PowerCLI)

  • Strong monitoring, capacity planning, and performance optimization skills

  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
