Position Overview

A reputable healthcare organization in the Dulles, Virginia area is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager – Behavioral Health to lead and oversee daily operations of the Behavioral Health unit. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and operational efficiency within the department.

The Nurse Manager will provide clinical and administrative leadership, promote a culture of safety and collaboration, and drive performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily clinical and operational functions of the Behavioral Health unit.

  • Provide leadership, supervision, and support to nursing and support staff.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards.

  • Manage staffing plans, scheduling, and productivity to align with patient census and budget goals.

  • Monitor and improve quality metrics, patient satisfaction, and safety outcomes.

  • Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and hospital leadership to ensure coordinated patient care.

  • Participate in strategic planning, policy development, and program growth initiatives.

  • Lead staff recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluations, and professional development.

  • Manage departmental budgets and resource allocation effectively.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Virginia or compact state).

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

  • Minimum 3–5 years of Behavioral Health nursing experience.

  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.

  • Strong knowledge of psychiatric nursing standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field.

  • Experience managing inpatient Behavioral Health services.

  • Demonstrated success in quality improvement and team development initiatives.
