Patient Access Representative

📍 Location: Houston, TX
Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour


Position Overview

A healthcare organization in Houston, Texas is seeking a Patient Access Representative to support front office and call center operations. This role serves as the first point of contact for patients and plays a key role in registration, scheduling, referrals, and insurance verification.

The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, call center experience, and a solid understanding of healthcare front office workflows.


Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients, visitors, and guests in a professional and courteous manner

  • Perform accurate patient registration, check-in, and check-out processes

  • Verify insurance coverage and benefits; obtain referrals and pre-authorizations as needed

  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances; process cash and credit card payments

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the system

  • Provide front office and call center support, including answering phones and scheduling appointments

  • Manage patient flow and respond to patient inquiries or concerns

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front office environment


Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a medical front office or patient access role

  • Call center and appointment scheduling experience required

  • Referral processing experience required

  • Strong customer service and cashier experience

  • Health insurance verification experience

  • Proficiency in data entry and basic computer skills

  • Ability to use a 10-key keypad by touch

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel


Education

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
