A large, multi-state healthcare laboratory services organization is seeking a Medical Technician to support hospital-based laboratory operations in Englewood, Florida. The organization provides comprehensive clinical laboratory and anatomic pathology services, delivering timely and accurate diagnostic information to hospitals, physicians, and healthcare partners.
The laboratory network includes:
A fully automated esoteric core laboratory
Centralized histology and microbiology operations
Hospital-based rapid-response laboratories across multiple regions
Support for acute care hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, physician practices, and ambulatory surgery centers
Laboratory professionals at this hospital play a critical role in supporting patient diagnosis and treatment through accurate, efficient, and reliable testing services.
The Medical Technician performs accurate and timely laboratory testing in a fast-paced clinical environment. This role requires strong analytical skills, independent judgment, and strict adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory standards to ensure reliable patient results.
Perform accurate and timely laboratory testing, including proficiency testing samples
Complete required documentation and maintain patient result records
Perform stat testing within established turnaround times
Conduct quality control procedures according to established protocols
Correlate and interpret patient results using sound clinical judgment (including delta checks)
Review pending and result logs; resolve outstanding workload or communicate with relief staff
Appropriately handle critical values and problem specimens
Assume departmental responsibility in the absence of a supervisor, as needed
Associate Degree (2-year program)
Active State of Florida Medical Technician license
Technician license in one or more clinical specialty areas
Generalist license strongly preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology
Minimum 1 year of Medical Technician experience
