Facility Overview

A 238-bed acute care hospital serving its community for over four decades is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager of Emergency Services. The facility delivers comprehensive, accredited care and is recognized for a wide range of advanced clinical services, including:

  • Cardiac, vascular, and interventional services

  • The only pediatric emergency department in the community

  • The only Level III NICU and Pediatric ICU in the region


Position Summary

The Nurse Manager of Emergency Services (Clinical Manager) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and patient care delivery within a high-volume Emergency Department. This leadership role provides direct supervision of staff, collaborates closely with physicians and hospital leadership, and ensures high standards of quality, safety, and operational efficiency.

This position oversees evening shift operations and reports directly to the Emergency Department Director.


Emergency Department Overview

  • 44-bed Emergency Department

  • Daily Patient Volume: Approximately 140–180 patients

  • Staff Oversight: 55.8 FTEs

  • Reports To: Emergency Department Director


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily emergency department operations during assigned shift

  • Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality patient care

  • Participate in hospital and departmental committees

  • Develop and implement staff education and professional development initiatives

  • Manage staffing and scheduling in collaboration with department leadership

  • Supervise personnel, including performance evaluations and disciplinary actions

  • Support onboarding, orientation, and mentoring of new staff

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory standards

  • Maintain quality assurance processes (e.g., crash cart checks, temperature logs, unit indicators)

  • Collect and analyze operational and clinical data to support performance improvement

  • Assist with clinical procedures as needed

  • Serve as a departmental resource and liaison for community education efforts


Qualifications

Required

  • 3–5 years of acute care Emergency Department leadership experience (within the past year)

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required

  • Must be actively enrolled in a BSN program

  • Active Florida RN license or Compact RN license

    • (Florida RN license required within 90 days if compact license held)

  • BLS certification (American Red Cross or American Heart Association)

    • Required within 30 days of hire

  • Strong leadership, operational management, and conflict-resolution skills
