A large, fully accredited medical-surgical hospital in South Florida is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager RN – Behavioral Health. The organization is a designated Level II Trauma Center and Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center, offering comprehensive inpatient and specialty services. The hospital is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care and maintaining nationally recognized clinical standards.
The Nurse Manager RN – Behavioral Health is responsible for the day-to-day management and 24/7 operational oversight of a 53-bed inpatient Behavioral Health unit. This leadership role ensures excellence in clinical quality, staff engagement, fiscal stewardship, productivity, and patient satisfaction in alignment with organizational goals and regulatory standards.
Manage daily unit operations with full 24/7 accountability
Plan, prepare, and oversee staffing schedules and assignments
Provide leadership input on hiring, performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions
Ensure compliance with Joint Commission (JCAHO) standards and organizational policies
Collaborate with hospital leadership, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams
Lead, mentor, and support a multidisciplinary team of approximately 108 FTEs, including RNs, Behavioral Health Technicians, and Charge Nurses
Maintain safe and effective staffing levels (RN ratio approximately 1:8)
Provide clinical and operational leadership for adult and geriatric inpatient populations
Active Florida RN license or Compact RN license (per Florida requirements)
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
BLS certification (or obtained within 30 days of hire)
ACLS certification (or obtained within 30 days of hire)
CPI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) certification (or obtained within 90 days of hire)
Minimum 3 years of Behavioral Health nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting
3–5 years of inpatient psychiatric clinical experience
1–3 years of leadership experience in an acute care setting (Charge RN, Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Supervisor, or Coordinator)
