About the Opportunity

A leading healthcare laboratory services organization in Florida is seeking a Medical Technician to join its hospital-based laboratory team. This organization supports acute care hospitals, physician practices, surgery centers, and rehabilitation facilities through advanced diagnostic laboratory services across the state.

This role is ideal for a licensed laboratory professional who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and is committed to delivering accurate and timely diagnostic results.


Position Summary

The Medical Technician performs laboratory testing and analysis to support patient diagnosis and treatment. This role ensures accurate test performance, compliance with regulatory standards, and timely reporting of results while maintaining quality control and departmental workflow standards.

The position may assume departmental responsibility in the absence of a supervisor and requires sound judgment in interpreting and correlating patient results.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate and timely laboratory testing in accordance with established protocols

  • Analyze proficiency testing samples and complete within allowable timeframes

  • Perform STAT testing within established turnaround time targets

  • Correlate and interpret patient results using sound clinical judgment (including delta checks)

  • Complete all required documentation related to patient testing and results

  • Review pending logs and resolve outstanding workload issues

  • Communicate unresolved issues to incoming staff during shift transitions

  • Perform quality control procedures per laboratory protocol

  • Handle and report critical laboratory values according to established guidelines

  • Assume departmental responsibility in the absence of the supervisor


Education Requirements

  • Associate Degree (2-year) – Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related field – Preferred


Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Technician – Preferred


Licensure & Certifications

  • Active State of Florida Technologist License – Required

  • Technician License in one or more of the following clinical specialty areas:

    • Blood Bank

    • Serology

    • Chemistry

    • Hematology

    • Microbiology

  • Generalist certification/licensure – Highly Preferred
