Schedule Options:

  • Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM

  • Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
    Hours: 34.5 hours per week


Compensation

  • Local Pay: $30 – $40/hour

  • Traveler Pay: $40 – $50/hour


Position Overview

A leading healthcare organization in New York City is seeking a skilled Telemetry Technician to provide continuous cardiac monitoring and advanced ECG analysis for hospitalized patients. This role is critical in identifying and responding to cardiac rhythm changes, supporting rapid intervention, and ensuring patient safety through accurate monitoring and communication with the clinical care team.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical Monitoring & Patient Safety

  • Perform continuous cardiac monitoring with accurate interpretation of ECG rhythms and dysrhythmias

  • Analyze ECG strips and promptly identify potentially life-threatening rhythm changes

  • Initiate emergency response procedures and assist during code situations, including rhythm documentation

  • Record and maintain telemetry data in accordance with clinical and regulatory standards

  • Troubleshoot telemetry and monitoring equipment issues and respond appropriately to all alarms


Diagnostic & Technical Duties

  • Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) in multiple care settings with proper electrode placement

  • Operate, manage, and maintain telemetry and cardiac monitoring equipment safely and effectively

  • Ensure accurate rhythm strip documentation and compliance with organizational policies


Communication & Collaboration

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members

  • Enter, verify, and manage orders within the electronic medical record system

  • Retrieve laboratory results and escalate critical findings to appropriate clinical staff


Administrative Responsibilities

  • Ensure all documentation meets current clinical standards and institutional policies

  • Support unit workflow by maintaining accurate records and responding to clinical requests


Required Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross) – required

  • Completion of an approved Dysrhythmia Interpretation Course – required
