Job Title: Payroll & Timekeeping Specialist /Payroll & Tax Specialist (In Healthcare Field)

Location: New York City, NY 10004
Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Engagement Type: Contract / W2

Pay Rate: $30 per hour

Experience Requirements:

  • Federal, State, and Local Payroll Tax laws/compliance
  • W-2 Year-End Processing
  • Experience preparing income tax returns

Note: At least 2 years of payroll/timekeeping experience (including garnishments, taxes, and year-end activities). Must have High School Diploma.


Position Overview

A healthcare organization is seeking a Payroll & Timekeeping Specialist / Payroll & Tax Specialist to support payroll operations for both hourly and salaried employees. This role requires strong attention to detail, experience with payroll processing, and the ability to assist with audits, wage garnishments, and benefits deductions while supporting broader accounting and administrative initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees accurately and on time

  • Assist with entering and processing wage garnishments

  • Process payroll transfer reports and ensure proper allocation

  • Verify and maintain accurate benefits deductions

  • Conduct payroll audits to ensure accuracy and maintain data integrity

  • Support leadership with various accounting and payroll-related projects

  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee information


Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of recent payroll experience (required)

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to manage multiple payroll-related tasks efficiently


Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with payroll systems such as Oracle or PeopleSoft
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Experience with QuickBooks

  • Experience with PayChoice or Payroll Associates systems preferred

  • Prior experience in a healthcare environment is a plus
