Pay Rate: $36–$40 per hour

Position Overview

The Cardiology Diagnostic Technician provides high-quality patient care through specimen collection and non-invasive cardiac testing. This role supports clinical teams by performing EKGs, Holter monitoring, stress testing, and phlebotomy while ensuring compliance with established clinical, safety, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform non-invasive cardiac diagnostic tests including EKGs, Holter monitors, and stress tests

  • Draw blood and collect clinical specimens; transport specimens to the laboratory

  • Verify patient identity and explain procedures prior to testing or specimen collection

  • Instruct patients on proper specimen collection techniques

  • Complete and verify all required laboratory and cardiac testing documentation

  • Document test results and patient information in electronic systems and department logs

  • Complete test ordering and billing documentation accurately

  • Communicate workflow changes, technical issues, or test updates to appropriate staff

  • Adhere to PPE, infection control, and safety policies at all times

  • Support nursing units with specimen collection and diagnostic testing needs

  • Assist with training and mentoring staff and clinical students as assigned

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and data collection activities

  • Troubleshoot specimen collection issues and support service recovery efforts

  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe testing and work areas

  • Monitor inventory levels, restock supplies, and report supply needs

  • Attend staff meetings, in-services, and required training sessions

  • Deliver patient-centered service aligned with organizational values

Required Qualifications

Education & Certifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Completion of a Medical Terminology course or equivalent assessment

  • BLS Certification required

  • Phlebotomy Technician Certification (PBT-ASCP) eligible

Skills & Experience

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical environment

  • Acute care hospital experience preferred

  • Professional, patient-focused, and team-oriented mindset
