Position Summary

A healthcare organization is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) specializing in Hematology, Oncology, and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to adult patients with hematologic disorders, cancer diagnoses, and those undergoing or recovering from bone marrow or stem cell transplantation. This role collaborates closely with physicians, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality oncologic care across the full continuum, including diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and palliative care.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history, physical examinations, and ongoing evaluation of treatment response

  • Diagnose and manage hematologic and oncologic conditions in accordance with established clinical protocols

  • Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans for chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive care

  • Manage patients undergoing or post bone marrow or stem cell transplantation, including complications and long-term follow-up

  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic studies, including laboratory tests, imaging, and pathology

  • Prescribe medications and therapies in compliance with state regulations and institutional guidelines

  • Monitor and manage treatment-related side effects and oncologic emergencies

  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, symptom management, and prognosis

  • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care

  • Participate in survivorship planning, symptom management, and palliative or end-of-life care when appropriate

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to evidence-based practice standards


Qualifications

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program

  • Current Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Colorado (or eligibility)

  • National Nurse Practitioner certification (AANP or ANCC)

  • Oncology Nurse Practitioner experience preferred; Hematology/Oncology and/or BMT experience strongly desired

  • Oncology Nurse Certification (OCN®) or Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP®) preferred or willingness to obtain

  • Prescriptive authority and DEA registration (or eligibility).
