The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for the accurate, efficient completion of diagnostic imaging procedures for physician interpretation. This role focuses on delivering high-quality patient care, providing clear patient education, and ensuring full compliance with all regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
Demonstrate advanced knowledge in at least two imaging modalities (e.g., CT, X-Ray, MRI, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, or Sonography)
Perform all imaging examinations according to departmental protocols or in coordination with the Radiologist
Practice radiation safety and strictly adhere to ALARA standards
Screen female patients for pregnancy status and apply appropriate radiation protection
Perform quality control (QC) procedures in accordance with manufacturer guidelines
Operate imaging equipment per manufacturer specifications
Verify exam orders, confirm patient identity using two identifiers, and provide clear exam education
Obtain informed consent when required
Collect and document relevant patient medical history related to imaging procedures
Notify the Radiologist of all STAT or emergent cases and provide ordering provider contact information
Ensure all required documentation, prior studies, and imaging forms are complete prior to interpretation
Assist with clerical tasks, phone coverage, message documentation, and patient transportation as needed
Assist with training and cross-training of imaging staff
Maintain supply inventory, including ordering and stocking materials
Troubleshoot equipment issues, complete downtime documentation, and coordinate service support when needed
Submit imaging documentation to Health Information Management and Radiology for processing
Demonstrate flexibility with scheduling, including overtime, on-call coverage, weekends, and holidays
Rotate or assist in other imaging modalities within scope of licensure and certification
Work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment
Perform additional duties as assigned
Demonstrate professionalism and represent the organization in a positive manner
Maintain effective verbal and written communication with patients, staff, and vendors
Adhere to established dress code and professional appearance standards
Exhibit initiative, self-motivation, and effective time management
Complete all required annual education, training, and licensure/certification updates
Maintain strict patient confidentiality at all times
Report to work as scheduled and complete duties within designated timeframes
Participate in departmental and facility performance improvement and quality initiatives
Ensure ongoing compliance with departmental, hospital, state, and federal regulations
Follow all infection control, safety, and risk management policies
Required:
Active registration (or eligibility to obtain within one year) in at least two of the following:
ARRT: Radiography (R), CT, MRI, Mammography (M), Nuclear Medicine (N)
ARDMS: RDMS, RVT, RDCS, RMSKS
NMTCB
Current BLS certification
Prior experience as a practicing technologist in one or more imaging modalities required
Two (2) years of experience preferred
Willingness to cross-train into additional modalities such as CT, MRI, DEXA, or Mammography
