Position Overview

The Clinical Resource Nurse provides expert clinical support, education, and mentorship to nursing staff within a Medical-Surgical acute care setting. This role supports professional development, promotes evidence-based practice, and enhances quality, safety, and patient outcomes. The Clinical Resource Nurse serves as a clinical expert and liaison between frontline staff and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical support to nursing staff, addressing complex patient care, medication administration, and treatment plans

  • Support the educational and informational needs of new hires, experienced staff, and students

  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate orientation programs, staff education, and continuing professional development activities

  • Serve as a clinical mentor and practice resource to enhance nursing skills and competencies

  • Act as a liaison between nursing staff and leadership, communicating concerns, feedback, and practice improvement opportunities

  • Analyze patient care data to identify clinical practice gaps

  • Develop and implement interventions to address knowledge or skill deficits

  • Apply critical thinking skills in clinical decision-making

Additional Duties

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement evidence-based standards of care

  • Advocate for patients and families while supporting high-quality care delivery

  • Promote adoption of new clinical practices, protocols, equipment, and innovations

  • Facilitate training related to new processes, technologies, and clinical tools

  • Promote ethical standards and organizational mission and values

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and quality standards

  • Conduct quality audits and report nursing-related concerns to leadership

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education, Certifications & Licensure

  • Nursing degree required

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific, in good standing)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse

  • Acute care experience strongly preferred
