Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – Adult Operating Room

Location: Syracuse, NY 13215
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks


Schedule

  • Day/Evening Rotation

  • 32–40 hours per week

  • Mix of 4×8-hour and 4×12-hour shifts

Shift Times May Include:

  • 07:00 – 15:30

  • 11:00 – 19:30

  • 15:00 – 23:30

  • 07:00 – 19:30

  • 11:00 – 23:30


Compensation

  • Local Candidates: Up to $45.00/hour (W2), based on experience

  • Travel Candidates: Competitive pay packages including tax-free stipends for housing, meals, and incidentals (for those residing outside a 50-mile radius)


Role Overview

A large academic medical center in Syracuse, NY is seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to support the Adult Operating Room. This role requires a highly skilled surgical technologist capable of scrubbing complex procedures in a fast-paced, high-acuity teaching environment. The CST will maintain a sterile field and assist surgeons across multiple adult surgical specialties.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert scrub support for a wide range of adult surgical cases, including Trauma, Orthopedics, General Surgery, ENT, Vascular, Gynecology, Bariatric, and Neurosurgery

  • Prepare and organize sterile fields, surgical instrumentation, and equipment for complex procedures

  • Maintain strict aseptic technique and support the surgical team with minimal supervision

  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers in a high-volume operating room


Required Qualifications

  • Certification: Active Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of recent OR experience (within the past 4 years) in a Level I or Level II Trauma Center or comparable large teaching hospital

  • Clinical Expertise: Strong experience in Orthopedics, Trauma, Vascular, and General Surgery

  • Compliance: No history of professional license or certification investigation or suspension; must successfully complete pre-employment health clearance

  • Travel Candidates: First-time travelers considered only with extensive experience in facilities of similar size and acuity


Additional Notes

  • Flexibility is required to work both 8-hour and 12-hour shifts

  • First Assist duties are not permitted for this role in accordance with New York State regulations.
