Job Title: Senior Internal Communications Specialist
Duration: 4 months
Location: Everett, WA (Hybrid – onsite Tuesday & Wednesday weekly; occasional additional onsite days for events/meetings; up to 3 remote days per week)
A public-sector organization is seeking a Senior Internal Communications Specialist to plan, develop, and deliver internal communications that support organizational priorities and employee engagement. This role collaborates with departments across the organization to create clear, accurate, and consistent messaging across multiple platforms and channels.
The position is responsible for day-to-day management of the organization’s intranet and plays a key role in supporting internal events, digital signage, photography, and video communications. Responsibilities are diverse, creative, and highly collaborative.
Develop, write, edit, and deliver internal communications across multiple formats and channels including email, intranet, in-person presentations, digital signage, and print materials
Maintain and manage the organization’s intranet, including creating content and sites, updating pages, and supporting a network of departmental content managers
Manage the intranet content calendar to ensure messaging is timely, accurate, and aligned with organizational priorities
Review, edit, and ensure consistency and quality of intranet content submitted by departments in alignment with style, tone, brand, and accessibility standards
Create, update, and maintain digital signage content
Plan, coordinate, and support internal events and initiatives including all-hands meetings, employee engagement programs, and recognition events
Take and edit photographs for publication on the intranet
Support video communications including storyboarding, filming, and post-production editing
5+ years of professional experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or a related field
2+ years of project management experience
Equivalent combination of education and experience considered
Experience working with websites, including creating new pages and managing content
Experience communicating effectively with remote or hybrid workforces
Experience with photography and/or video production
Strong internal audience–focused writing techniques
Experience incorporating equity and inclusion into communication practices
Knowledge of Associated Press writing style
Ability to effectively use multiple communication channels and tools to engage employees
Strong cross-functional collaboration and interpersonal communication skills
Excellent written, visual, and editorial communication abilities
Experience creating and managing content calendars and publishing schedules
Strong project management and organizational skills
Effective time management with the ability to meet deadlines and manage shifting priorities
High attention to detail
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365
Demonstrated ability to foster inclusive, respectful, and collaborative workplace environments
Graphic design experience
Fluency in a language other than English
Experience in the transportation or transit industry
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field
