This opportunity is with a large, high-acuity acute care hospital within a well-established healthcare network in North Texas. The facility is a 600+ bed hospital recognized for advanced cardiovascular services, trauma care, stroke care, women’s and children’s services, and specialty programs. The organization is known for its commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety, and professional nursing practice.
The Nurse Manager of Cardiac Stepdown has 24/7 accountability for a defined patient care area and is responsible for creating an environment that supports high-quality, patient-centered nursing care. This role provides leadership aligned with organizational mission, vision, and values while ensuring excellence in patient outcomes, staff engagement, and operational performance.
Maintain overall accountability for the Cardiac Stepdown/Progressive Care unit, ensuring safe, effective, and evidence-based nursing care.
Develop and implement care delivery models that support individualized, goal-directed patient care.
Lead staffing, scheduling, performance management, and professional development of unit-based staff.
Delegate care appropriately based on patient needs and staff competencies.
Promote patient safety as the primary goal in all care delivery processes.
Manage unit budgets and control operating expenses while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Support continuous performance improvement initiatives focused on patient, employee, and physician satisfaction.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, infection prevention guidelines, and national patient safety goals.
Monitor, trend, and communicate occurrence reporting data to improve patient safety outcomes.
Promote staff education related to error reporting, patient safety, and quality improvement initiatives.
Encourage staff involvement in professional practice, education, community outreach, and nursing research.
Reports to: Director of Progressive Care (PCU)

Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care cardiac leadership experience
Progressive leadership experience strongly preferred
Prior leadership experience in a Magnet® or Pathways-designated facility (required)
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
Master’s degree (MSN or related field) preferred
Active Texas RN license or compact state license
BLS and ACLS as required
National specialty certification or commitment to obtain within one year of hire
