Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to support night shift operations. The RN will provide comprehensive care to laboring patients and will float as needed between Labor & Delivery, Post-Partum, and Nursery units. Candidates must be confident working independently with minimal orientation in a high-acuity acute care setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to labor and delivery patients during 12-hour night shifts

• Float between Labor & Delivery, Post-Partum, and Nursery units as required

• Circulate during Cesarean sections (required)

• Scrub for C-sections (preferred)

• Perform accurate nursing assessments and deliver appropriate interventions in acute care settings

• Demonstrate strong clinical judgment with minimal supervision

• Maintain clear communication with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams

• Accurately document patient care in the electronic medical record

• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements

Required Qualifications

• Current New York State RN License in good standing

• BLS certification (must be current and maintain recertification)

• Minimum 1.5 years of recent experience (within the past 2 years) in:

  • Labor and Delivery

  • Acute care hospital of similar size and acuity

• Circulating C-section experience – Required

• Experience floating between L&D, Post-Partum, and Nursery

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills

• Legal authorization to work in the United States

Traveler Requirements

• Travelers must have experience in:

  • Hospitals of equal or greater size, or

  • Trauma center environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience scrubbing Cesarean sections

• Experience using EPIC Electronic Medical Records

Compliance & Pre-Employment Requirements

• Must not have had:

  • Professional license or certification suspended or under investigation

  • Involvement as a defendant in a professional liability claim

• Must successfully complete:

  • Pre-employment health clearance

  • Drug screening

  • Criminal background check
