Unit: Telemetry Float
The Registered Nurse (Telemetry – Float) provides high-quality nursing care to adult patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring across multiple telemetry units. This role requires strong rhythm interpretation skills, adaptability, and the ability to safely manage variable patient assignments in a float capacity.
Deliver comprehensive nursing care to telemetry patients across assigned units
Perform accurate cardiac rhythm interpretation and continuous telemetry monitoring
Administer medications, including cardiac and critical drips as applicable
Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition, including rapid interventions
Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC EMR
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective patient care
Float to designated telemetry units based on staffing and patient care needs
Adhere to patient safety standards, infection control policies, and hospital protocols
Active New York State RN License (must be in hand)
Minimum 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience
At least 1 year of current telemetry nursing experience
BLS (AHA) certification required
ACLS (AHA) certification required
EPIC EMR experience required
Strong telemetry skills with the ability to:
Read and interpret cardiac rhythms
Pass a hospital-proctored rhythm exam requiring:
>80% accuracy in general rhythm identification
100% accuracy in identifying critical rhythms
Flu vaccination required (approved medical or religious exemption accepted)
Experience with critical drips
Experience caring for CVA (stroke) patients
Typical patient ratio: 1:4–5
Telemetry Float role
Maximum 3 call-offs per contract for float assignments
