Position Overview

The Senior Solution Architect will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-scale virtualized and hyper-converged infrastructure environments. This role requires deep expertise in VMware platforms, storage systems, networking integration, automation, and security hardening in a highly regulated environment.


Key Responsibilities

Virtualization & Platform Management

  • Install, configure, and support VMware vSphere (8.x) environments

  • Manage and maintain NSX-T / NSX-V, vSAN, and related VMware services

  • Perform lifecycle management, upgrades, and performance optimization

Hyper-Converged Infrastructure

  • Support hyper-converged platforms (Dell EMC VxRail and PowerFlex preferred)

  • Perform capacity planning, health monitoring, and firmware upgrades

  • Ensure high availability and operational resilience

Storage Operations

  • Manage block and file storage solutions (Dell/EMC preferred)

  • Perform LUN provisioning, file system administration, and storage optimization

  • Support data protection, backup, and recovery operations

Network Integration

  • Configure and maintain Top-of-Rack (ToR) switches

  • Implement and manage VLANs, routing, and IP configurations

  • Support virtual networking and storage traffic requirements

Automation & Scripting

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and playbooks (Ansible preferred)

  • Automate provisioning, patching, compliance checks, and operational tasks

Security & Compliance

  • Apply DISA STIGs and vendor-specific hardening guidelines

  • Conduct vulnerability scans and support remediation efforts

  • Ensure environments meet security and compliance standards

Documentation & Collaboration

  • Create and maintain runbooks, change control documentation, and knowledge base articles

  • Collaborate with application, security, and network teams

  • Support incident resolution and infrastructure modernization initiatives


Required Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience in enterprise infrastructure architecture and operations

  • Strong expertise with VMware vSphere, NSX, and vSAN

  • Hands-on experience with hyper-converged infrastructure platforms

  • Solid understanding of storage, networking, and virtualization integration

  • Experience with automation tools and scripting

  • Proven ability to work in secure, regulated environments


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Dell EMC VxRail or PowerFlex

  • Strong Ansible automation experience

  • Familiarity with DoD or federal security compliance standards

  • Excellent documentation and cross-team communication skills
