Job Title: LVN / LPN – Medical Surgical (Travel Contract)

Location: Rochester, NY 14626
Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks
Orientation: 16 Hours
Shift: Night Shift – 3×12 Hours (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Weekend Coverage: Every Other Weekend
Block Scheduling: May be accommodated, not guaranteed
Float: Yes – may float to care for Med/Surg patients
Call: As needed based on staffing
First-Time Travelers: Accepted
Scrubs: Navy Blue / White
COVID-19 Vaccine: Not Required


Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced LVN / LPN – Medical Surgical for a night-shift travel assignment in a flex overflow unit supporting Emergency Department boarding patients. This is a 14-bed Med/Surg Tele overflow unit located within a GI Endoscopy space. Patient census may vary based on demand.


Unit Description

  • 14-bed overflow unit for ED boarder patients

  • Med/Surg Tele environment

  • Flexible patient volume based on hospital demand


Required Skills & Clinical Competencies

  • Emergency Department and Med/Surg Tele experience

  • Blood glucose monitoring and testing

  • Feeding tube care and management

  • Foley catheter insertion (male & female)

  • NG Tube / G-Tube care

  • IM, SQ, Oral, Subcutaneous medication administration

  • Oxygen administration (face mask, nasal cannula)

  • Ambulation and patient mobility assistance

  • Bathing (bed, tub, shower, sitz) and mouth care

  • Admission of patients and documentation

  • Isolation precautions and infection control

  • Vital sign monitoring

  • Communication of patient status changes to RN/MD


Communication & Reporting

  • SBAR used for Emergency Department patients

  • Verbal reports expected for all other transfers and admissions


Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of LPN/LVN experience

  • BLS Certification required

  • EPIC experience required

  • Previous charge experience preferred


Additional Details

  • RTO: Minimal requests preferred

  • Floating required based on unit needs

  • Weekend rotation required
