Compensation & Incentives

  • Base Salary: $110,552 – $176,883 (commensurate with experience)

  • Sign-On Bonus: $20,000

  • Relocation Assistance: Up to $15,000

  • Annual Incentive Bonus: 17.5% – 26.25% (performance-based)

Role Overview

The Director of Emergency Services provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for the Emergency Department. This role is accountable for department performance, quality outcomes, patient experience, staffing effectiveness, and financial stewardship.

The Director will lead a high-performing team while ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centered care delivery. This position partners closely with physicians and executive leadership to advance throughput optimization, service excellence, and organizational goals while maintaining regulatory and accreditation readiness.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Required

  • Master’s Degree – Preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years of Emergency Services leadership experience (Director-level experience strongly preferred)

  • Demonstrated success leading high-volume Emergency Departments

  • Proven track record of performance improvement, strong quality metrics, and operational excellence

  • Energetic, collaborative leader with strong communication, influence, and change management skills

Key Responsibilities

Quality & Operations

  • Lead evidence-based clinical and operational practices to improve patient safety, quality outcomes, and regulatory compliance

  • Optimize patient throughput through volume forecasting, patient flow coordination, and discharge planning

  • Oversee Emergency Department nursing practice and daily operations, ensuring appropriate staffing, competencies, and coverage

  • Maintain continuous readiness for regulatory surveys, accreditation, and compliance standards

Service Excellence

  • Drive a culture of exceptional patient experience and service excellence

  • Utilize patient feedback, quality metrics, and performance data to identify and implement improvement initiatives

  • Collaborate with patient experience and clinical leaders to advance organizational service goals

People Leadership

  • Build, develop, and retain a high-performing Emergency Services leadership and clinical team

  • Coach, mentor, and support leaders and frontline staff to improve engagement, accountability, and performance

  • Foster a culture aligned with organizational mission, values, and professional standards

Growth & Strategy

  • Partner with physicians and senior leadership to enhance and expand Emergency Services programs

  • Identify opportunities for innovation, service differentiation, and volume growth

  • Support long-term strategic planning initiatives related to Emergency Services

Financial Stewardship

  • Lead departmental budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance management

  • Ensure effective labor utilization, productivity optimization, and premium pay oversight

  • Identify and implement cost-containment strategies while maintaining quality and safety standards
