Job Location: Marcy, NY 13403
Duration: 26 weeks (with possibility to extend)
Shift: Day Shift – 2x12-hour shifts (6:00 AM – 6:00 PM)

Pay Rate: $56.50 – $69.00 per hour


Position Summary:

The Travel Correctional RN provides comprehensive nursing care to individuals in a correctional facility setting. This role involves conducting health assessments, administering medications, implementing care plans, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support the health and well-being of the incarcerated population.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct nursing assessments and obtain, record, and update health information and vital signs using standard instruments and procedures.

  • Prepare individuals for and/or assist with medical examinations and treatments.

  • Administer medications and perform nursing procedures as prescribed.

  • Prepare, implement, and modify nursing care plans.

  • Provide clinical supervision and instruction to direct care staff and delegate appropriate nursing tasks and responsibilities.

  • Observe, monitor, and document individuals’ symptoms, conditions, care, diet, and physical activity.

  • Identify and report responses to medications and changes in health status.

  • Serve as the nursing representative on the treatment team; consult and coordinate with other healthcare disciplines.

  • Make clinical rounds to assess nursing care needs and evaluate nursing services.

  • Provide health education, counseling, and teaching to individuals and groups.

  • Implement infection control protocols and provide related consultation and instruction to staff.

  • Maintain and update charts, records, and documentation in compliance with agency, state, and federal requirements.

  • Collect data and support related activities for medical research as required.

  • Monitor inventories and ensure adequate supplies of medications, equipment, and nursing supplies.

  • Assist with work schedules, provide information to nurse supervisors, and contribute to required reports and staff evaluations as needed.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.

  • Experience in a correctional, acute care, or institutional healthcare setting preferred.

  • Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and care coordination skills.


Education & Certifications:

  • Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license.

  • BLS certification required.

  • Must meet all credentialing and compliance requirements.
