We are seeking an experienced Senior General Ledger Clerk to support fiscal year-end financial operations. This role requires a candidate who can hit the ground running and immediately contribute to general ledger processing, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
The position focuses on general ledger accounting fundamentals, including debits and credits, account analysis, and program closeouts. Heavy Accounts Payable experience is not the primary focus for this role.
The position operates under general supervision from Finance and IT leadership.
Prepare and post journal entries and perform program closeouts in a computerized general ledger system
Process, balance, and close general ledger accounts for multiple programs
Perform account analysis and reconcile bank statements
Maintain financial records for designated programs (e.g., housing and grant-related programs)
Prepare required financial and compliance reports for regulatory agencies
Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with financial policies and procedures
Support fiscal year-end close activities
Language Skills
Ability to read, understand, and write basic instructions, correspondence, and memos
Ability to present information clearly in one-on-one and small group settings
Mathematical Skills
Proficiency in basic arithmetic using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret basic graphs
Reasoning & Work Skills
Apply common-sense reasoning to follow written, oral, or diagram-based instructions
Accurately maintain financial records and files
Perform precise mathematical calculations
Type at least 35 words per minute
Respond effectively to inquiries and information requests
Work independently with minimal supervision
Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
Build and maintain cooperative working relationships
2 years of experience in Accounting or Finance
OR
4 years of combined experience in Accounting or Finance
Associate’s Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
Concentration in Accounting or related field
Ability to sit for extended periods and use hands for typing and handling documents
Occasional standing, walking, reaching, bending, or lifting up to 25 pounds
