Job Title: Travel Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Ithaca, NY
Assignment Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 8 Weeks
Shift: Night Shift
Schedule: 3 × 12-hour shifts
Total Hours: 36 hours/week
Weekend Requirement: 2–3 night shifts per schedule

Position Overview

A hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift assignment. This role provides respiratory care services to neonate through adult patients in a fast-paced clinical environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong critical care expertise, clinical judgment, and familiarity with respiratory protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive respiratory care to neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients

  • Administer oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and respiratory treatments

  • Manage and monitor mechanical ventilation, high-flow oxygen, and non-invasive ventilation

  • Perform arterial punctures and interpret blood gas results

  • Respond to emergencies and provide respiratory support during critical situations

  • Follow hospital protocols and evidence-based respiratory care practices

  • Accurately document patient assessments, treatments, and responses

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams

Required Qualifications

  • Active New York State Respiratory Therapy License

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential

  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (required)

  • Strong critical care and critical thinking skills

  • Proficiency with ventilators, high-flow systems, and respiratory protocols

Preferred Qualifications

  • NRP certification (preferred but not required)

  • Prior NICU experience (preferred, not required)

  • Experience treating mixed patient populations (neonate through adult)
