Contract Details

  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

  • Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday, as needed


Job Summary

A large acute-care teaching hospital is seeking an experienced Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse for a night-shift contract assignment. The RN will provide step-down level care to adult and geriatric patients requiring advanced monitoring and clinical support.


Charting & Scheduling Notes

  • Charting System: EPIC (experience required)

  • RTO / Special Scheduling Requests: Must be submitted at time of submission

  • Call-Off Policy: Facility may cancel up to three shifts during a 13-week contract without penalty

  • First-Time Travelers: Accepted


Licensure & Certifications

  • Active New York State RN license required (single-state only; NY is not compact)

  • Pending licenses not accepted

  • Certifications Required:

    • BLS

    • ACLS

    • NIHSS


Required Clinical Skills & Experience

  • Step-down / telemetry-level care (PCU, IMC, DOU)

  • Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation

  • Use of Rapid Response and Code Teams

  • Oxygen therapy including nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management

  • Management of cardiac drips (no titration)

  • Blood product administration

  • Central and peripheral line care and management

  • IV therapy and phlebotomy

  • Isolation precautions


Unit Details & Floating

  • Patient Ratios: 1:4–5

  • Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics

  • Common Diagnoses:

    • Long-term pulmonary patients

    • ENT surgical patients

    • Post-surgical cases requiring step-down care

  • Scrub Color: Any combination of navy blue and white

  • Floating: Required within scope of competency
