A public-sector organization is seeking a Network Security Analyst I to support an ongoing cybersecurity initiative. This role is responsible for safeguarding information systems and computer networks by monitoring activity, identifying vulnerabilities, responding to security incidents, and implementing risk mitigation strategies. The analyst will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to enhance security posture and ensure compliance with cybersecurity best practices.
Monitor network traffic, server logs, and system activity for potential security threats
Investigate and respond to cybersecurity incidents and security breaches
Install, configure, administer, and troubleshoot security-related hardware and software tools
Apply and maintain current security patches and updates across systems
Develop, update, and maintain network and system security controls
Evaluate existing cybersecurity tools and controls to identify gaps and recommend improvements
Implement risk reduction strategies aligned with organizational security objectives
Design and prepare project documentation including project plans, status reports, briefings, and presentations
Develop internal and external communication materials for stakeholders
Conduct research, interviews, meetings, and workshops to understand organizational goals, challenges, and opportunities
Collaborate extensively with internal teams, business partners, and external stakeholders to identify and resolve complex security issues
Perform basic project management tasks including project charters, risk management, communications planning, and resource coordination
Edit and maintain technical documentation to ensure clarity, consistency, and accuracy
Manage updates and revisions to technical literature and provide regular progress reports and briefing materials
Candidates must have at least 3 years of experience in the following areas:
Evaluating and reviewing cybersecurity tools and controls to identify gaps and implement risk mitigation plans
Designing, preparing, and delivering project documentation such as project plans, reports, briefings, and presentations
Conducting research and stakeholder engagement activities (interviews, meetings, workshops) to assess organizational needs and improvement opportunities
Working extensively with internal and external stakeholders to analyze and resolve complex cybersecurity problems
Performing foundational project management duties including scope definition, risk management, communications planning, and resource coordination
Editing and maintaining technical documentation with attention to format, clarity, and cohesion, including progress and status reporting
Candidates with 5 or more years of experience in the following areas are preferred:
Cybersecurity risk assessments and implementation of risk reduction strategies
Development and presentation of technical and executive-level documentation
Stakeholder engagement across business, technical, and external partner groups
Project management support for short-term cybersecurity initiatives
Technical documentation management and reporting
