Location: New York, NY
Contract Duration: 14 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $21/hour

Position Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking an experienced Surgical Coordinator to support the coordination and scheduling of operating room (OR) surgeries and procedures within a fast-paced healthcare environment. This role is critical to ensuring smooth communication among patients, surgeons, referring providers, and internal departments while maintaining accuracy, compliance, and workflow efficiency. The Surgical Coordinator plays a key role in supporting high-quality patient care through effective planning, documentation, and coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule all operating room surgeries and procedures in collaboration with surgeons, providers, and hospital departments

  • Monitor front office workflow and make real-time adjustments to support efficient service delivery

  • Verify patient demographics and insurance information for scheduled surgical procedures

  • Obtain insurance pre-certifications and ensure required authorizations are secured

  • Coordinate and confirm patient medical clearances prior to scheduled procedures

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for patients, addressing questions related to scheduling, policies, and procedures

  • Place surgical confirmation calls one day prior to scheduled procedures

  • Schedule post-operative follow-up appointments with appropriate providers

  • Act as a liaison between referring physicians and surgeons to facilitate clinical communication and OR scheduling needs

  • Collect, process, and distribute surgical documentation to internal and external stakeholders

  • Accurately record hospital reservations and pre-admission data within the Cerner system

  • Train, mentor, and support junior scheduling staff as needed

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support department operations

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in surgical scheduling or a related healthcare coordination role

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent customer service and patient-facing skills

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare setting

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
