A short-term acute care hospital is seeking an experienced Histology Technician to support a high-volume histology laboratory. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise in tissue processing, embedding, and microtomy, and be comfortable working independently during overnight hours.
Minimum Experience: 2 years (required)
First-Time Travelers: Not accepted
Weekend Requirement: None
On-Call Requirement: No
Floating: Not required (no floating within department or to sister facilities)

Pending State License: Accepted
RTO Restriction: Maximum of 5 days
Guaranteed Hours:
Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts at any time without penalty
On-call hours do not count toward guaranteed minimum hours
National Certification Required: ASCP – HT
BLS: Not required

Automated and manual microtome use
Cryostat sectioning
Cutting tissue sections using microtome and cryostat
Precision microtomy
Paraffin wax sectioning
Cutting blocks
Microtomy of fatty and hard tissue
Embedding techniques for:
GI specimens
Large specimens
Small and large tissues
Skin specimens
Molds
Histology cassette preparation
Hematoxylin & Eosin (H&E) staining
Slide preparation for staining
Epic / Excellian experience required
