Job Title: Medical Office Assistant
Location: New York, NY 10019
Contract Duration: 9 Weeks
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Pay Rate: $20/hour
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to provide both clinical and administrative support in a fast-paced healthcare setting. This role is essential in ensuring efficient patient flow, high-quality patient care, and smooth medical office operations while supporting physicians and surgeons.
Room patients, obtain vital signs, and prepare patients for examinations and procedures
Perform venipuncture, EKGs, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection/processing as assigned
Assist physicians during examinations and procedures
Escort patients to exam and procedure rooms and assist with mobility, transfers, and dressing
Communicate physician instructions to patients and families; respond to incoming calls appropriately
Prepare, clean, and maintain examination rooms and equipment following infection control protocols
Manage patient medical records, including filing, scanning, and maintaining charts
Process lab results, imaging reports, referrals, hospital notes, and operative reports
Enter orders into the EMR system and prepare prescription refill requests for provider review
Complete forms, requisitions, consent forms, and pre-admission documentation
Schedule appointments, procedures, and surgeries; coordinate with clinical staff as needed
Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information
Perform insurance verification and pre-certifications when required
Inventory, order, and restock medical supplies
Monitor medication and supply expiration dates and dispose of items per policy
Maintain required logs for refrigeration, sterilization, point-of-care testing, and emergency equipment
Adhere to safety standards, infection control guidelines, and PPE requirements
Ensure compliance with institutional policies, legal regulations, and workplace safety standards
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant
Medical Assistant certification from an accredited program
Prior medical office and/or phlebotomy experience preferred
Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a diverse environment
