Job Title: IT Project Manager
Location: Sacramento, CA (Hybrid – Onsite Tuesdays; Remote Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Onsite attendance required for critical meetings as needed.)
Duration: 11-Month Contract
Seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to support a large enterprise Information Technology Project Management Office (PMO). This role will manage multiple concurrent enterprise-level IT initiatives using a structured Enterprise Project Management framework, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget while aligning with organizational strategic objectives.
Manage 2–5 concurrent enterprise-level IT projects across all phases of the project lifecycle, including Initiation, Planning, Execution, and Closing
Apply PMP methodologies and enterprise project governance standards to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery
Establish strong working relationships with project sponsors, executive stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
Define project success criteria and measurable benefits in collaboration with sponsors
Lead project discovery, planning, resource coordination, execution monitoring, risk management, communications, and closure activities
Develop and maintain key project documentation, including:
Business Cases
Project Charters
Stakeholder Registers
Communication Plans
Risk and Issue Logs
Detailed Project Schedules with defined milestones
Benefit Realization Plans
Status Reports and Dashboards
Facilitate formal phase gate reviews and approvals throughout the project lifecycle
Coordinate with business planning, financial, and resource teams to ensure funding and staffing alignment
Monitor and control scope, schedule, cost, and risks, initiating formal change requests when required
Provide regular and ad hoc project status updates using enterprise project management and reporting tools
Track project tasks and milestones using approved PPM and scheduling platforms
Lead project closeout activities, including lessons learned and benefits realization follow-up
Ensure adherence to ethical standards, governance requirements, and delegated approval authorities
Approved Business Cases and Project Charters
Comprehensive Project Management Plans aligned with PMP standards
Detailed project schedules with enterprise milestone integration
Stakeholder engagement and communication plans
Monthly (or more frequent) status reports and dashboards
Risk and issue logs with documented mitigation strategies
Approved change requests (as applicable)
Project closeout documentation, including lessons learned and benefits realization reports
Active PMP certification (certification status and date required)
Minimum 5 years of IT Project Management experience
Proven experience managing multiple concurrent enterprise-level projects
Strong expertise in governance, schedule and cost control, risk management, and stakeholder communication
Demonstrated professional maturity with the ability to adapt communication style across executive, technical, and business audiences
Minimum 1 year of experience managing web content management and/or marketing automation projects
Proficiency with enterprise project management tools such as:
ServiceNow PPM
SAP BPC
Microsoft Project
Atlassian Align
Power BI (preferred)
Experience working in regulated, public-sector, or utility environments
Experience with Agile frameworks and/or Agile-related certifications
