Position Overview

A high-acuity emergency department in the Rochester, NY area is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a night-shift travel assignment. This role supports adult emergency patients across a wide range of critical and trauma-related diagnoses.


Scheduling & Charting

  • Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

  • Holiday Requirement: Must be available to work every other holiday, if needed

  • Charting System: EPIC (required)

  • RTO & Special Scheduling Requests: Must be submitted at time of submission

  • Call-Off Policy: Facility may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract without penalty

  • First-Time Travelers: Accepted


Licensure & Certifications

  • Active New York State RN License required (NY is not a compact state)

  • Pending licenses not accepted

  • BLS

  • ACLS

  • NIHSS


Required Clinical Skills

  • IV therapy: blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, IV initiation and maintenance

  • IV vasopressor administration

  • CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator management

  • Cardiac monitoring with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias

  • Emergency care for adult and pediatric patients

  • Trauma experience including gunshot wounds and orthopedic trauma

  • CVA (stroke), neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, TBI

  • Triage experience

  • Pediatric spinal cord injury

  • Isolation precautions


Unit Details & Floating

  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5

  • Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics with all emergency-type diagnoses

  • Floating: Required within skill set

  • Special Equipment:

    • Bair Hugger

    • Rapid infuser

    • Safe patient handling equipment

  • Scrub Color: Any combination of navy blue and white
