Job Title: NG911 – Business Process Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Location: Brooklyn, NY (Onsite / Hybrid as required)
Duration: 11 Months

Position Overview

The NG911 Business Process SME will provide expert guidance and advisory support for a Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) program. This role focuses on business process alignment, call handling system integration, and validation of operational workflows to support emergency communications modernization initiatives.

The consultant will work closely with public safety stakeholders to support system implementation, testing, and standards compliance while ensuring business processes align with NG9-1-1 operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advisory support across all aspects of NG9-1-1 initiatives, with a strong focus on Call Handling System (CHS) integration

  • Apply business process methodology expertise to support system implementation, validation, and testing efforts

  • Assist in developing and documenting use cases, call flows, and operational scenarios for all NG9-1-1 call types

  • Support requirements definition and validation for NG9-1-1 call handling systems and associated standards

  • Collaborate with technical and operational teams to ensure alignment between business processes and system capabilities

  • Analyze existing workflows to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement

  • Provide clear and effective communication of complex process and system concepts to diverse stakeholders

Mandatory Skills & Experience

Note: Candidates must meet all mandatory requirements to be considered.

  • Minimum 12 years of senior-level, hands-on experience as an audio/telephony systems SME

  • Extensive experience with:

    • Public Safety systems

    • Quality Assurance

    • Systems Design, Development, Integration, and Testing

  • Deep understanding of public safety operational environments, including industry challenges, regulations, and compliance requirements

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate existing processes and recommend effective improvements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred / Desirable Skills

  • Demonstrated commitment to staying current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in business process management

  • Strong collaboration skills and experience working with cross-functional teams

  • High learning agility with the ability to quickly adapt to new tools, systems, and methodologies

  • Relevant certifications in business process management or related disciplines, such as:

    • Six Sigma

    • Lean

    • BPMN

  • Ability to leverage technology to enhance, streamline, and automate business processes
