Job Title: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Hospice
Location: Hyannis, MA 02601
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Hourly Rate: $58.00 – $62.00/hour
Weekly Hours: 40 hours
Shift: Evening / Night
Schedule: Monday – Friday
Hours: 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM (8-hour shifts)
Additional Coverage: Occasional weekends and holidays
On-Call: Occasional on-call coverage from 9:00 PM – 8:00 AM
We are seeking an experienced Travel Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) to support an interdisciplinary hospice care team in the Hyannis, Massachusetts area. This role delivers skilled nursing care focused on pain and symptom management, comfort, dignity, and quality of life for patients receiving end-of-life care in home and facility settings. The Hospice RN practices in alignment with hospice philosophy, clinical best practices, and regulatory standards.
Active Massachusetts RN License – Required
Minimum of two (2) years of Hospice RN Case Management experience – Required
Successful completion of a pre-hire medication competency assessment
Hospice home care experience – Preferred
IV Certification – Preferred
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Preferred
Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and time-management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage frequent travel
Proficiency with electronic medical records and basic computer applications
Compassionate approach to end-of-life patient care
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and patient case conferences
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and respond to changes in condition
Deliver skilled nursing care with a strong focus on comfort and symptom management
Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and care team members
Notify physicians and appropriate care providers of significant patient condition changes
Complete admissions, clinical documentation, and required paperwork accurately and timely
Maintain clear, concise, and compliant clinical documentation reflecting skilled services
Obtain, clarify, and follow valid physician orders for all care provided
Ensure admission documentation is completed by 9:00 AM the next business day
Educate patients, families, and facility staff on hospice philosophy and available services
Implement individualized plans of care in collaboration with the attending physician
Supervise Hospice Aides at least every 14 days, per regulatory requirements
Support orientation and mentoring of new staff as requested
Adhere to professional nursing standards and organizational policies
Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership
