Job Title: Sterile Processing Coordinator

The Sterile Processing Coordinator oversees day-to-day sterile processing operations to ensure efficient workflow, regulatory compliance, and high-quality outcomes. This role leads a team of Sterile Processing Technicians, ensuring surgical instruments and equipment are cleaned, assembled, sterilized, and distributed according to established standards while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
Supervise Sterile Processing Technicians and coordinate shift assignments to ensure adequate staffing and workflow coverage.
Monitor decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution processes for surgical instruments.
Ensure compliance with ANSI/AAMI standards, manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs), OSHA regulations, and internal SOPs.
Conduct and review quality assurance audits and ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.
Train, mentor, and support SPD staff to maintain competencies and encourage professional development.
Coordinate equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting with appropriate teams.
Partner with site leadership on scheduling, timekeeping, and operational objectives.
Collaborate with clinical and support departments to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments.
Promote safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance across all operations.
Address customer service feedback and resolve concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Assist with supply inventory management and reordering processes.
Support continuous quality improvement initiatives and KPI monitoring.
Provide direct supervision of all sterile processing staff during assigned shifts.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Minimum 3 years of sterile processing experience.
At least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role within healthcare or manufacturing environments.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Working knowledge of sterilization standards, OSHA regulations, and infection control practices.
Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with medical device reprocessing and general surgical instrumentation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and electronic timekeeping systems.
Team-oriented approach with the ability to motivate and support staff.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
College degree or 3+ years of leadership experience (preferred)
Certifications:
CRCST – Certified Registered Central Service Technician (required)
CIS – Certified Instrument Specialist (preferred)
HSPA-CHL – Healthcare Leadership Certification (preferred)
