Job Description – Registered Nurse (RN) – Hospice

Position Type: Travel Contract
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Care Setting: Hospice / Home Health
Location: Hyannis, MA

Shift & Schedule

  • Hours: 40 hours/week

  • Shift: Evening / Night

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday

  • Shift Time: 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM

  • Weekends/Holidays: Occasional, as needed

Compensation

  • Weekly Gross: $2,921.20/week

  • W2 Rate: $34/hour

  • Stipend: $1,561/week

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) – Hospice provides compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to individuals and families facing life-limiting illness. This role focuses on symptom management, care coordination, and emotional support while delivering high-quality hospice services in the home and community setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized hospice care plans.

  • Provide skilled nursing care, symptom management, and pain control in accordance with hospice standards.

  • Coordinate care with physicians, interdisciplinary hospice team members, patients, and families.

  • Educate patients and caregivers on disease progression, medications, comfort measures, and end-of-life care.

  • Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapy as ordered (if certified).

  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record (EMR).

  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and care conferences.

  • Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and families throughout the hospice journey.

  • Travel extensively within the service area to deliver home-based hospice care.

  • Participate in on-call, weekend, and holiday coverage as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Massachusetts.

  • Minimum 2 years of Hospice RN Case Management experience.

  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel throughout the service area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hospice home care experience.

  • IV certification.

  • Strong computer skills with EMR documentation experience.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
