ICU Step Down (Med/Surg SD) Registered Nurse
Location: Manhattan, NY
Duration: 14 Weeks
Shift: Days (3x12) | 7:30 AM – 8:00 PM | 34.5 Hours/Week
Pay: $2,415/Week
Job Overview:
We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join the ICU Step Down unit during a period of increased patient census. This role focuses on providing care for patients transitioning from the ICU who require closer monitoring than a general Med/Surg unit. Nurses will manage a patient ratio of 1:4, caring for individuals ranging from young adults to geriatric patients.
Key Responsibilities:
High-Acuity Monitoring: Observe and manage patients with complex medical equipment, including catheters, feeding tubes, tracheostomies, ventilators, and cardiac monitors.
Patient Assessment: Perform frequent patient assessments and escalate care promptly when conditions change.
Emergency Response: Respond to cardiac arrests and rapid response situations effectively.
Clinical Procedures: Perform IV insertions, phlebotomy, and administer conscious sedation as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
Experience:
Minimum 2 years in Medical/Surgical Step Down units or
Minimum 2 years ICU experience
Technical Skills:
IV insertion and phlebotomy experience (2+ years)
Conscious sedation experience (2+ years)
Education: Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ASN/ADN) required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
Licensure: Active New York State RN License
Certifications:
AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
