Registered Nurse (RN) – ICU Step-Down Unit
Location: Elmhurst, NY
Assignment Length: 19 Weeks
Schedule: Night Shift | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Hours: 34.5 Hours/Week
Pay Rate: $65 – $70 per hour
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for an ICU Step-Down unit. This role supports patients transitioning from intensive care who require a higher level of monitoring and clinical attention than a standard medical-surgical unit.
Provide comprehensive nursing care to step-down/SDU patients
Monitor patients using advanced medical equipment, including cardiac monitors, ventilators, tracheostomies, feeding tubes, and catheters
Perform frequent patient assessments and promptly escalate changes in condition
Respond to rapid response and cardiac arrest situations
Maintain safe RN-to-patient ratios (typically 1:4)
Care for a diverse patient population ranging from young adults to geriatrics
Minimum 2 years of ICU experience OR
Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical Step-Down (SDU) experience
Minimum 2 years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience
Minimum 2 years of conscious sedation experience
Demonstrated completion of age-specific competency requirements
Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN/ADN) from an accredited nursing program
Evidence of graduation from an accredited National League for Nursing (NLN) school
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience accepted
Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License
Primary Source Verification through NYS Department of Education (NYSED)
AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
