Position Overview

The Nurse Manager of Surgical Services provides leadership and oversight for the Operating Room. This role ensures high-quality patient care by directing nursing operations, supporting staff development, and maintaining compliance with all clinical and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee delivery of professional nursing care for all surgery patients

  • Maintain and interpret department policies to support compliance and quality

  • Serve as a key liaison between OR staff, administration, medical staff, and other departments

Team Development

  • Partner with the OR Educator to manage onboarding and ongoing staff education

  • Conduct performance reviews and identify staff development needs

  • Support a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture

Strategic & Financial

  • Assist with annual operating and capital budget planning

  • Develop departmental goals, objectives, and performance metrics

  • Contribute to operational improvement and resource optimization

Qualifications

Education

  • Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in an acute care Operating Room

  • Minimum 5 years of OR RN clinical experience

  • Strong knowledge of surgical nursing practices

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active Texas RN license or Compact license

  • BLS (AHA or American Red Cross)

  • Preferred: CNOR Certification
