Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) – Contract Assignment

Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift
Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Location: Salinas, CA

Job Summary

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will assess, diagnose, and treat residents with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in a skilled nursing environment. The clinician will collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement effective treatment plans that enhance functional communication and improve overall quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing assessments.

  • Develop individualized treatment plans to address identified deficits and functional goals.

  • Provide therapeutic interventions for speech, language, voice, cognition, and dysphagia.

  • Document evaluations, daily notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries in accordance with regulatory and facility standards.

  • Educate residents, caregivers, and staff on communication strategies and swallowing safety.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute clinical expertise to care planning.

  • Monitor progress and adjust treatment plans based on patient response and functional outcomes.

  • Ensure compliance with state licensure requirements and professional practice guidelines.

  • Support a patient-centered environment focused on functional improvement and safety.

  • Collaborate closely with nursing, OT, PT, and other rehabilitation team members to ensure coordinated care.

Requirements

  • Active and unrestricted SLP license in the state of assignment.

  • Skilled nursing or geriatric rehab experience preferred.

  • Strong assessment, treatment planning, and documentation skills.

  • Excellent communication and clinical judgment abilities.
