2nd Shift: 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM
1st Shift: 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
The ESL Instructor will deliver high-quality English as a Second Language (ESL) and/or English for Specific Purposes (ESP) instruction for adult learners. This role supports the Upward Academy program and focuses on helping participants improve speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills for workplace and daily communication.
Provide ESL/ESP classroom instruction aligned with program goals.
Create, adapt, and develop instructional materials for classes.
Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and documentation.
Attend Upward Academy partner meetings as required.
Participate in all faculty meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.
Support recruitment events and program completion activities.
Maintain a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment.
TESOL certification (mandatory).
Strong knowledge of ESL teaching strategies, including grammar, reading, writing, speaking, and listening methodologies.
Native-level fluency with excellent written and spoken English skills.
Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of adult ESL teaching experience.
Strong classroom management and lesson-planning skills.
Ability to give clear and concise instructions.
Proficiency in a second language.
Experience teaching ESP (e.g., Business, Economics, Computers, Engineering, etc.).
Cross-cultural communication skills and sensitivity.
Strong technology skills for instructional delivery.
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
