Job Title: Pharmacist I – Contract
Location: New York, NY 10029
Hours: 40 hours/week
Schedule: 4×10-hour shifts


Position Overview

The Pharmacist I provides high-quality pharmaceutical care by preparing medications, supporting patient therapy management, and serving as a clinical resource for the multidisciplinary healthcare team. This role includes dispensing duties, medication counseling, therapeutic recommendations, and safe handling of specialized medications including chemotherapy.


Available Roles (3 Open Positions)

There are three separate Pharmacist I contract roles, each aligned with a different shift:

  1. Night Shift: 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM

  2. Evening Shift: 3:30 PM – 11:30 PM

  3. Day Shift: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM


Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Accurately prepares and dispenses medications in a timely manner.

  • Provides pharmacological information and guidance to the healthcare team.

  • Reviews and monitors patient drug therapies for safety, efficacy, and appropriateness.

  • Resolves questions regarding formulary and non-formulary medications following established policies.

  • Provides dosing and therapeutic recommendations based on patient age, pharmacokinetics, and evidence-based literature.

  • Performs patient education on medication usage, timing, side effects, and drug interactions.

  • Supports departmental requirements for documentation, safety protocols, and communication.

  • Participates in float coverage across multiple specialty areas including:

    • Critical Care

    • Pediatrics

    • Oncology

    • Transplant

    • Medicine

    • Cardiac

  • Performs chemo preparation as required.


Required Skills & Experience

  • Ability to dispense medications accurately and efficiently.

  • Strong clinical judgment and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to provide therapeutic recommendations based on clinical data.

  • Strong communication skills for patient counseling and team collaboration.

  • Experience using pharmacy software systems and standard computer applications.


Education & Licensure

  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy.

  • 0–2 years of experience as a licensed Pharmacist.

  • Must hold an active Pharmacist license (state-specific requirements apply).


Additional Requirements

  • Chemo preparation experience required

  • Ability to float across multiple clinical areas
