The Systems Analyst is responsible for analyzing business objectives, understanding user needs, and identifying opportunities to automate or improve existing systems. The role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to translate business needs into detailed requirements, and effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Analyze business objectives, challenges, and current operational procedures.
Identify alternative solutions and perform cost/benefit analyses.
Conduct detailed user requirement studies and document process workflows.
Collaborate with teams to determine data input needs, output formats, summary styles, and reporting structures.
Write detailed descriptions of user needs, functional requirements, and steps necessary for program development or modification.
Evaluate system capabilities, limitations, and scheduling constraints to assess feasibility.
Analyze existing system functionalities, data flows, and pain points.
Elicit and define business requirements for new systems or enhancements.
Write Epics, User Stories, and Acceptance Criteria for development and QA teams.
Document current-state processes and identify opportunities for operational or system improvements.
Facilitate workshops, conduct interviews, and lead requirement-gathering sessions.
Present findings, data models, and recommendations to stakeholders.
Ensure alignment between business objectives and technical solutions.
8+ years of hands-on experience as a Business Data Analyst in the IT industry.
8+ years collaborating with technical and non-technical teams to analyze complex, data-driven business problems.
8+ years designing and optimizing data workflows using modeling or mapping tools.
8+ years writing Epics, User Stories, and Acceptance Criteria for technical teams.
8+ years creating and maintaining data dictionaries, business requirement documents, and data mapping specifications.
8+ years designing and presenting visual data models and dashboards.
8+ years leading data-focused meetings, documenting outcomes, and resolving data-related issues.
4+ years with a bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
4+ years managing multiple data projects simultaneously.
3+ years working knowledge of eligibility rules for programs such as SNAP, Medicaid, and TANF.
3+ years interpreting and applying policy within integrated eligibility case management systems.
3+ years leading and coordinating JAD (Joint Application Design) sessions.
