Job Title: Respiratory Therapist (RT)
Location: Norfolk, VA
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Night Shift
Additional Note: Sunday shifts are required.

Job Description:
A skilled Respiratory Therapist (RT) is needed to provide respiratory care within an acute-care hospital environment. The RT will deliver high-quality therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory services, supporting patients with diverse respiratory conditions across various hospital units.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform respiratory assessments and implement appropriate therapy plans based on clinical evaluations.

  • Administer respiratory treatments, including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, chest physiotherapy, and airway management.

  • Manage and monitor ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP devices, and other respiratory support equipment.

  • Respond to emergency situations, including rapid response and code blue events, providing airway management and ventilation support.

  • Conduct diagnostic tests such as ABGs, pulmonary function screening, and bedside respiratory assessments.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care.

  • Document all treatments, assessments, and patient responses in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.

  • Educate patients and families regarding respiratory conditions, treatments, and equipment use.

  • Maintain all respiratory equipment and ensure proper functionality and cleanliness.

  • Follow all hospital policies, professional standards, and state/federal regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Active Respiratory Therapist license in the state of Virginia (or eligibility prior to start).

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (CRT or RRT accepted per facility requirements).

  • Experience in acute care or hospital settings strongly preferred.

  • Strong clinical skills, assessment abilities, and emergency-response capability.

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to independently manage workload on night shift.

  • Must be available to work every Sunday.
