Job Description:
We are seeking a committed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to support rehabilitation services in a skilled nursing environment. The PTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide therapeutic interventions that help patients improve mobility, strength, and functional independence.
Responsibilities:
Deliver physical therapy treatments in accordance with the supervising Physical Therapist’s plan of care.
Provide therapeutic exercises, functional mobility activities, gait training, and balance interventions.
Accurately document treatments, observations, and patient progress per facility and regulatory standards.
Communicate patient updates, concerns, and progress to the PT and interdisciplinary care team.
Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, mobility techniques, and safety practices.
Maintain therapy equipment and ensure a clean, safe treatment environment.
Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to support coordinated patient care.
Adjust therapeutic activities based on patient response and PT guidance.
Assist with functional assessments and discharge planning as requested.
Comply with all facility, state, and federal regulations governing therapy care.
Qualifications:
Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in New Mexico (or eligibility prior to start).
Graduate of an accredited PTA program.
Prior experience in skilled nursing or rehabilitation preferred.
Strong communication, patient-care, and documentation skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Agency must possess a valid New Mexico Caregivers Account for placement.
