Job Description:
We are seeking a committed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to support rehabilitation services in a skilled nursing environment. The PTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide therapeutic interventions that help patients improve mobility, strength, and functional independence.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver physical therapy treatments in accordance with the supervising Physical Therapist’s plan of care.

  • Provide therapeutic exercises, functional mobility activities, gait training, and balance interventions.

  • Accurately document treatments, observations, and patient progress per facility and regulatory standards.

  • Communicate patient updates, concerns, and progress to the PT and interdisciplinary care team.

  • Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, mobility techniques, and safety practices.

  • Maintain therapy equipment and ensure a clean, safe treatment environment.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to support coordinated patient care.

  • Adjust therapeutic activities based on patient response and PT guidance.

  • Assist with functional assessments and discharge planning as requested.

  • Comply with all facility, state, and federal regulations governing therapy care.

Qualifications:

  • Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in New Mexico (or eligibility prior to start).

  • Graduate of an accredited PTA program.

  • Prior experience in skilled nursing or rehabilitation preferred.

  • Strong communication, patient-care, and documentation skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Agency must possess a valid New Mexico Caregivers Account for placement.
