Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to provide supportive rehabilitative care within a skilled nursing environment. The PTA will work under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist to help patients improve mobility, strength, and independence.
Responsibilities:
Carry out physical therapy treatment plans established by the supervising Physical Therapist.
Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance activities, and functional mobility interventions.
Document treatment sessions, observations, and patient progress according to facility and regulatory requirements.
Communicate patient updates, concerns, and improvements to the Physical Therapist and care team.
Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, safe mobility techniques, and assistive strategies.
Maintain treatment equipment and ensure a clean, safe therapy environment.
Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration to support comprehensive patient care.
Modify treatment activities based on patient tolerance and clinical guidance.
Support discharge planning by reporting functional gains and treatment outcomes.
Follow all facility, state, and federal regulations governing therapy services.
Qualifications:
Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in Maryland (or eligibility prior to start).
Graduate of an accredited PTA program.
Experience in skilled nursing or rehabilitation settings preferred.
Strong communication, teamwork, and patient-care skills.
Ability to follow clinical direction and provide compassionate, quality care.
