Job Title: Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / MSDU
Location: Rochester, NY 14621
Shift: Nights (4×12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00)
Duration: 13 weeks
Orientation: 16 hours
Block Scheduling: Not available
License: Active NY RN license required at submission
Experience: Minimum 1 year of acute RN experience
Specialty Experience: PCU/MSDU, able to manage 1:5–1:7 Med-Surg patient ratios
Certifications: BLS
Charting: EPIC experience required
Travelers: First-time travelers accepted
Weekends: Every other weekend
Unit Type: Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) / Step-Down
Beds: 26
Patient Population:
Adult acute-care patients requiring higher acuity monitoring
Admissions from ED, PACU, ICU, and Med-Surg floors
Monitoring: Continuous pulse oximetry and telemetry for all patients
Common Interventions:
Airway management
Acute BiPAP support
Care of patients with arterial lines & central lines
Titrated IV medication infusions
Team Approach: Multidisciplinary, fast-paced, adaptable, and focused on high-quality evidence-based care
Cardiac Monitoring / Emergency Response:
Interpretation & management of dysrhythmias
Familiarity with Rapid Response and Code Team protocols
IV Therapy/Phlebotomy:
Peripheral line care & management
Respiratory Support:
Nasal cannula, face masks, portable oxygen
Non-invasive airway management
Professional Competencies:
Strong understanding of isolation precautions
