Job Description:
A compassionate and skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is needed to support communication and swallowing rehabilitation within a skilled nursing environment. The ideal candidate will provide patient-centered therapy aimed at improving speech, language, cognition, and swallowing function.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders.

  • Develop individualized treatment plans aligned with patient needs and clinical goals.

  • Provide therapeutic interventions for speech clarity, language comprehension, expressive communication, cognitive-linguistic skills, and dysphagia management.

  • Document evaluations, daily treatment notes, progress updates, and care plans in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support coordinated, holistic patient care.

  • Educate patients and caregivers on communication strategies, safety measures, and swallowing techniques.

  • Participate in care conferences and support discharge planning.

  • Maintain a safe, supportive therapeutic environment conducive to patient progress.

  • Adjust treatment plans based on patient response and clinical judgment.

  • Ensure compliance with all professional standards, state/federal regulations, and facility guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Active Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) license in Rhode Island (or eligibility prior to start).

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.

  • Current CCC-SLP from ASHA preferred; CFs considered based on facility acceptance.

  • Experience in a skilled nursing or rehabilitation setting preferred.

  • Strong communication, assessment, and documentation skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and work independently as needed.
