Job Title: D/E Adult Surgical/Operating Room Technician

Location: Syracuse, NY
Contract Duration: 22 weeks
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift: Mix of Day/Evening Shifts (8-hour & 12-hour rotations)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Surgical/Operating Room Technician to support an acute-care hospital’s adult operating room. This role requires advanced technical skills, the ability to multitask in a high-acuity environment, and strong experience in trauma and specialty surgical cases.

The position involves a combination of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts, with rotating schedules based on facility needs.

Shift Details

You may be scheduled for any of the following shift times:

  • 07:00 – 15:30

  • 11:00 – 19:30

  • 15:00 – 23:30

  • 07:00 – 19:30

  • 11:00 – 23:30

Responsibilities

  • Perform scrub duties for a variety of surgical procedures.

  • Prepare and maintain sterile fields.

  • Assist surgeons during trauma, ortho, general, ENT, vascular, GYN, neurosurgery, bariatric, GU, and other specialty cases.

  • Ensure all equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and functioning.

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of surgical techniques and operating room protocols.

  • Follow all safety, infection control, and compliance guidelines.

  • Work collaboratively with surgeons, nurses, and OR staff.

  • Float to different OR areas as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years recent experience (within last 4 years) in an acute-care operating room environment.

  • Experience in Level 1 or Level 2 trauma centers or comparable high-volume surgical facilities.

  • Mandatory certification as a Surgical Technician.

  • Scrub experience required.

  • Experience across multiple specialties (trauma, ortho, general, ENT, vascular, GYN, etc.).

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.

  • Must pass pre-employment health clearance, drug screening, and background check.

  • No history of license/certification suspension or investigation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in teaching hospital environments.

  • Prior travel assignment experience in similarly sized facilities.
