Job Description
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will support the Occupational Therapist in delivering quality rehabilitative services to patients. This role focuses on helping patients improve their ability to perform daily living and meaningful activities through structured therapy programs.
Assist the Occupational Therapist in implementing individualized treatment plans to support functional independence.
Conduct therapeutic interventions such as ADL training, functional mobility, strengthening, and cognitive exercises.
Accurately document patient progress, treatment responses, and any changes in condition.
Educate patients and families on therapy techniques, safety, and home exercise programs.
Maintain therapy equipment and treatment areas in clean, safe, and organized condition.
Collaborate with nursing, therapy, and interdisciplinary staff to support holistic patient care.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to care planning discussions.
Adhere to state practice guidelines, facility policies, and professional standards.
Active, unencumbered COTA license in the state of New Mexico.
Must meet requirement for an NM caregivers account.
Current BLS/CPR certification.
Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility, rehab, or acute care preferred.
Strong communication, clinical, and documentation skills.
Ability to work all scheduled days, including weekends.
