Job Title: Medical Assistant – Contract
Location: New York (Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Syracuse)
Duration: 3+ months (Contract)
Schedule: Monday–Friday (Day/Night Shifts)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Rate: $22/hr (W2)
The Medical Assistant will provide both clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers, ensuring efficient patient flow and high-quality care. This role involves direct patient interaction, hands-on clinical procedures, and essential clerical duties within a medical office environment.
Perform venipuncture, EKGs, vital signs, and assist physicians with procedures.
Prepare examination rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain infection control standards.
Collect and process specimens; conduct point-of-care testing.
Assist patients with mobility, transfers, and dressing as needed.
Maintain logs for refrigeration, sterilization, and crash cart checks.
Check medication and supply expiration dates; dispose of items per policy.
Maintain a safe, compliant clinical environment.
Follow PPE and safety protocols regarding exposure risks.
Perform proficient phlebotomy as required.
Enter physician orders and prescription refill requests into the EMR system for review.
Manage medical records including filing, obtaining reports, and updating charts.
Assist with scheduling appointments, surgeries, and procedures.
Verify and update patient demographics, insurance, and pre-certification details.
Maintain office supply inventory and order medical materials as needed.
Provide excellent communication and service to patients, families, and clinical staff.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with diverse patients.
Professional telephone etiquette and ability to manage patient inquiries.
Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA regulations.
Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
Basic proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving healthcare environment.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Medical Assistant Certification required.
Current BLS certification (AHA required).
